Job scams work on people who need work quickly. That urgency is exactly the weapon.
The clear signs:
- They ask you for money. Any money. Registration fees, training fees, visa fees, a "deposit" for a uniform or equipment. A real job does not ask you for a single pound, before or after hiring.
- The salary is oddly high for the work. If an advert pays double the market rate for a job needing no experience, something is wrong.
- The job description is vague. "Opportunity, excellent income, no experience needed" is not a job description, it is bait.
- They rush you. "You must reply today." "Only two places left." That pressure is deliberate, so that you do not think.
- The company leaves no trace. Search the name. No website, no address, nobody has heard of them? Be careful.
- The whole interview happens over WhatsApp from a personal number, and they will not meet you or even speak by voice.
- They ask for personal details early: bank number, both sides of your ID, a password. No employer needs those to interview you.
If something feels off, do this: ask for the company's full name and address, and ask to meet at their office. An honest employer is not troubled by that question. A scammer disappears.
On this platform every advert is reviewed by a person before it appears, and every listing has a report button. If you see something wrong, report it — it reaches us straight away and we look at it, and you protect somebody else.
